In July, the economic sentiment index of the euro zone fell to the level of last February, and the consumer sentiment index reached a new low point in the European Commission’s survey.

In the monthly survey of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), the economic sentiment index (ESI) of the euro area fell by 4.5 points to 99.0 points in July, the lowest value since February last year, from 103.5 points in June.
The extent of the decrease exceeded market expectations, as analysts expected 102.0 points for July. (MTI)
