In July, the economic sentiment in the euro area deteriorated significantly

The economic sentiment of the euro zone fell to the level of last February
In the monthly survey of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN), the economic sentiment index (ESI) of the euro area fell by 4.5 points to 99.0 points in July, the lowest value since February last year, from 103.5 points in June.
The extent of the decrease exceeded market expectations, as analysts expected 102.0 points for July. (MTI)
