Mobile wallet service to be launched in Hungary next year
Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association was established in June 2011 by Magyar Telekom, Telenor, Vodafone, OTP, MasterCard and SuperShop. The association’s goal is to make NFC technology-based mobile wallet service available from 2013. Gábor Pukler, the president of the association and founding member Norbert Hovanyecz told our magazine that NFC technology is not simply a new form of electronic payment, but also a new platform for all payment-related transactions: the mobile wallet holds debit and loyalty cards, coupons and gift vouchers.
Payments can be made simply in just a few seconds and during this time loyalty points are also received – this means that shoppers have to spend less time queuing and cashiers can serve more customers, at the same time also paying more attention to their needs. Customers will be more satisfied and thereby more loyal. With the mobile wallet retailers can tailor promotions to customers’ needs, NFC tags placed in-store can stimulate sales and loyalty programmes become more efficient because the mobile application works automatically, so formerly reluctant shoppers may also join the loyalty programmes. People always have their mobiles with them and with the mobile wallet every card/coupon/voucher an all the necessary information are there to make conscious buyers the satisfied customers of conscious retailers.
