Elderberry cultivation is profitable
Elderberry cultivation is profitable, if someone does it professionally and with care. Demand is growing towards the fruit used as a food colourant, so the domestic area can be increased, – reports szabadfold.hu.
The members of the Elderberry Producers Marketing Cooperative (Botész) shares 860 hectares, from the country's 4,100 hectares of elderberry cultivation area. Their market share is 30 percent. While the yield on national average is 3 tons, the average of Botész is around 5 tons per hectare. 2009 was a year of losses, because of the adverse effects of the unregulated market conditions, so collaboration is important.
