Mandatory deposit return scheme for drink bottles proposed
The Hungarian government has proposed a bill for introducing a mandatory deposit return scheme for drink containers. At the moment it seems the new system will enter into force on 1 July 2023. With this step new jobs will also be created in the fields of waste management and the circular economy, plus the country’s greenhouse gas emission level is likely to reduce. According to a ZRI Závecz Research survey, 85 percent of the population are in favour of a deposit return scheme for PET bottles.
