A good year in agriculture
According to the latest market report of the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI), beef production in the European Union is expected to rise by 1 percent to 7.45 million tons this year. The EU’s beef export may grow by 1 percent and import can be up 6.6 percent. Hungary’s live cattle export augmented by 19 percent and in Q1 2014 from the level of Q1 2013. In the first 20 weeks of 2014 11 percent more chicken were slaughtered than in week 1-20 of 2013. The live weight average price of broiler chicken was HUF 275.7/kg – 8 percent lower than in the base period. In Q1 2014 our raw milk export rose 5.5 percent; average export price was HUF 105.77/kg – down 1 percent. Good cereal crops yield will probably bring cereal prices down. In the first third of the year feed grain prices in the EU were moving in the EUR 165-195 zone, according to data from the European Commission.
