GM products in Hungarian shops without any indication
Despite Hungary stands out strongly under the prohibition of gene modified (GM) plants, domestic agriculture is not yet without them.
The only permitted gene modified MON810 maize in Europe, although cannot be found in the Hungarian soil but the GM soya animal feed can be bought in the stores without authorization, or without any indication.
In the case of soy mostly from Brazil in particular at least 20 percent mark-up are counted, if proven gene-free – said Tóth István secretary of MOSZ. Exclusion of the gene modification would be a serious competitive disadvantage for the Hungarian livestock farmers – reports Világgazdaság Online.
