The demand for fertilizers increased significantly
In 2024 VII-IX. 90 percent more fertilizer was delivered to farmers compared to the volume sold in the same period a year earlier. Within the product range, lime-ammonium saltpetre (MAS) sold the most in the observed period, and compared to the same period a year earlier, the demand for the product increased by 81 percent. This product accounted for 64 percent of the sales in the current period.
With the exception of superphosphate (-19 percent), turnover increased in July-September 2024 compared to the third quarter of 2023 for all observed products. The sales volume of Nitrosol and DAM increased the most, by 3.5 times, followed by urea and ammonium nitrate (AN) with a 2.6 and 2.4 times increase in turnover, respectively. The demand for potassium chloride increased by only 15 percent.
Comparing the same two periods, sales prices were 10-20 percent lower compared to the base period, with the exception of potash salt and MAP
The price of superphosphate fell the most. If we compare the average sales prices of the third quarter of 2024 to those of the second quarter of 2024 – with the exception of 3 products – they decreased by 2-20 percent. The price of MAP and Nitrosol, DAM also increased by 1.5 percent, while that of MAS increased by 4 percent. Compared to the prices at the beginning of 2021, the observed products still cost almost one and a half to two times more in the relevant period, and the price of Nitrosol and DAM remained even more expensive than the others (2.1 times). The ratio of demand for ammonium nitrate to urea was 1:3 in the third quarter of 2023, which was also the same a year later.
