German and euro area economic expectations improved significantly in January
Investor sentiment in Germany and the eurozone improved significantly earlier this year, according to a survey by the ZEW Economic Research Institute in Mannheim.
In January, the economic expectations index rose 21.8 points to 51.7 points from the previous month in Germany in the ZEW investor sentiment survey. It last stood higher than this in July 2021, at 63.3 points. The market expected a much lower-than-actual value of 32.0 points in January, almost the same as in December. (MTI)
