Consumer sentiment in Germany has improved significantly
The consumer sentiment index of the GfK Economic Research Institute in Nuremberg, Germany, in August exceeded expectations, partly due to the reduction of VAT as part of the government’s economic growth measures.
According to data posted on GfK’s website on Thursday, the indicator, compiled on the basis of a survey of about 2,000 people, increased by 9.1 points to minus 0.3 points from the minus 9.4 points in July, while it was minus 18.6 points in June.
Experts expected minus 5 points in August. (MTI)
