The grain harvester market has expanded significantly
Individual farms and cooperatives bought HUF 174.9 billion worth of new agricultural machinery and tools in the January-June 2023 period, which was 6 percent more than the turnover a year earlier. In the same period, HUF 43.6 billion was spent on parts, which is a 2 percent increase compared to the base period.
Agricultural producers spent 63 percent of the total value of their investments in agricultural machinery in the first half of 2023 for the purchase of power machinery. Within the total sales, among the control machines, tractors represented 32 percent, and grain harvesters 20 percent. The most important segment of the agricultural machinery market is the tractor, of which there is an ample domestic selection. In the period January-June 2023, 595 less than in the base period, i.e. 1,355 new wheeled tractors worth HUF 55 billion, were updated from the well-known Western, Central-Eastern European and Far-Eastern brands. Among them, the category under 50 hp and 101–140 hp represented the largest share with 19 and 23 percent, respectively. In the January-June period of 2023, the grain harvester market expanded significantly, 256 new harvesters and threshers worth HUF 34.2 billion were added to farms, while in the same period of 2022, 220 were sold worth HUF 26.8 billion.
