The Minister explained that the harvest is in full swing, with the exception of winter barley, the harvest of which has now been completed and the national average yield is 5.7 tons per hectare. Due to the rainy weather, the harvest of winter wheat has slowed down in some places, the completion of which is close to 70 percent, but in several counties it has already exceeded 90 percent. The national average yield is currently 5.4 tons/hectare. The country’s bread is assured this year as well, for which we owe special thanks to all farmers – he emphasized. During the harvest season, a greater number of tractors, combines and tractors are also involved in traffic, and due to their increased presence, road users must be more careful, cautious and patient – added István Nagy.

Traffic can often get stuck behind agricultural machinery and slow-moving vehicles that are driving at lower speeds

Therefore, it is important that motorists only start overtaking if the road section is clearly visible and the maneuver can be completed safely. It is worth approaching large combines, tractors and tractors with caution and at a moderate, safe speed. Furthermore, passing and overtaking these vehicles – primarily due to their width – requires greater attention even in good visibility conditions, and it is advisable to keep a greater side distance – he listed. According to the Minister, it is particularly important that the crops get from the fields to the warehouses as quickly as possible. A successful harvest and the persistent and conscientious work of farmers play a fundamental role in the safe food supply of our country, and therefore we are grateful to all actors in agriculture.
