Ice cream trends 2024: new flavors, gluten-free and vegan, packaging adapted to consumption
With the good weather comes the peak season for ice creams. In this category as well, more and more criteria must be met when creating the offer, say Auchan experts. In addition to the classics, new and special flavors must always be provided, consumers’ food sensitivities and eating habits must be taken into account, and the packaging must be adapted to the occasions of consumption, so that the customer can choose what is the best value for him. Auchan is therefore preparing 300 types of ice cream for this season, one third of the selection will be new compared to last year.
Among the more than 300 types of ice cream, in addition to the classic flavors (chocolate, strawberry, lemon, vanilla, caramel), there will be refreshing, water-based sorbets, as well as ice cream versions of the most popular products of well-known confectionery brands. Apparently, consumers also like ice creams with mixed flavors, as a novelty this year we can try the lemon-raspberry, banana, cactus and yuzu-lemon flavor pairings, and the fun factor is reinforced by the fact that there will be tongue-painting ice cream for children, which they can even try on Children’s Day.
It is important that the consumer can find this product category in all kinds of packaging, since it does not matter what occasion they buy it for. Ice creams in sticks, cones or glasses will therefore also be available in multipacks in different flavor selections. Of course, family ice creams are not left out of the selection either. In addition to the ones with the same taste, there are also plenty of ones where several kinds are sealed in a box separately from each other, so that every member of the family can find what they like. By the way, these are still the most popular packages, even though this year Auchan’s specialists have introduced the so-called single-person impulse purchases are also expected to increase because, due to the rise in ice cream prices in confectioneries, home ice cream making is experiencing a renaissance. By the way, Auchan offers not only ice cream, but also measured ice cream with a high fruit content, and a scoop of it is typically 100-150 forints cheaper compared to the prices in pastry shops. And those who don’t want to leave home for a refreshing treat can choose from 250 types of ice cream and order online. True, this is primarily true of the capital and its catchment area, where Auchan’s own cars, which have a freezer compartment, go there.
