Ifo’s German business sentiment index improved in May
Instead of the expected deterioration, the Ifo Economic Research Institute’s business sentiment index in Germany improved for the second month in a row in May, after falling sharply in March as the outlook worsened as a result Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In the monthly survey of the ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich (ifo Institut – Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung an der Universität München e. V.), the business sentiment index improved to 93 points from 91.9 in April. The May value is the lowest since February last year.
Experts expected a deteriorating May index of 91.4 points. (MTI)
