Pork supply in China has improved
The Chinese pig herd, decimated by the African swine fever epidemic, caused supply problems even before the coronavirus pandemic broke out, and in the first four months of this year, supply, well below demand, pushed up the overall consumer price index. Beijing has been working to improve supplies since the beginning of the year: it has released frozen pork from the central reserve on several occasions and increased imports. (MTI)
