Magazine: Cat food’s market position strengthened
The value of the annual pet food market is around HUF 40 billion, 60 percent of which is spent on dog food and 40 percent on cat food. Dog food value sales augmented in the December 2010-May 2011 period in nearly all retail channels; stores with a floor space above 400m² realised three quarters of sales. Private label dog foods had a 52-percent market share. Cat food sales improved by 2 percent in terms of both value and volume. Private label products’ market share in value fell from 44 to 42 percent.
