Consumer sentiment improved in the United States in September
Consumer sentiment improved in the United States in September – according to the monthly survey of the University of Michigan – indicating that despite increasing uncertainty, consumers are optimistic and continue to support economic growth with rising spending.
According to the preliminary data released on Friday, the consumer sentiment index increased to 92.0 points from the 89.8 points of August. Analysts expected a slight rise of 90.9 points.
Among the sub-indices, the consumer expectations indicator for the next six months rose from 79.9 points to 82.4 points, while the value of the sub-index reflecting the current situation increased from 105.3 points to 106.9 points. (MTI)
