Consumer confidence improved in April in the euro area and in the EU
Consumer confidence in the euro area and the European Union has improved markedly in April, according to a preliminary flash estimate published by the European Commission on Thursday.
In the 19-nation euro area, the consumer confidence index rose by 2.7 points to minus 8.1 points, a fourteen-month high. Analysts expected a slight deterioration of minus 10.9 points after minus 10.8 points measured in March.
Household consumption accounts for more than half of euro area GDP. (MTI)
