An improving trend – this year, the winter seasonal inspection revealed fewer irregularities

More than 1,300 inspections were carried out by food chain inspectors during the winter seasonal inspection series in December. In connection with the action, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, dr. Márton Nobilis pointed out that the frequency of revealed deficiencies decreased slightly in all areas. The actors in the food chain and the authorities effectively served the interests of consumers during the holidays.

In December 2023, the popular products and restaurants of the holiday period were the focus of the food chain supervision. The winter seasonal inspection, coordinated at the national level, was carried out by experts from the county and district offices under the direction of Nébih, which was joined by Nébih’s inspectors in each special field.

Summarizing the results, State Secretary Márton Nobilis said that a total of 1,342 inspections were carried out nationwide, the inspectors issued warnings 8 times and fines in another 78 cases. Most often, in 73 cases, hygiene problems were experienced, but in general it can be said that the frequency of revealed deficiencies decreased to a small extent in all areas. A total of 214 food items had to be withdrawn from circulation, the typical reason for which was the expiry of the consumption and quality preservation period (in the case of 171 items).
