We buy more over the weekend
The 19-hour store closure has also reshaped our shopping habits by going shopping more on Saturdays and Sundays. No wonder. And for New Year’s Eve, we didn’t buy more than a year ago in grocery stores, even though there was nowhere to go to party. The December shopkeeper’s balance slipped to minus, the annual balance as well. But just a little, which is not a bad balance compared to other sectors.
According to weekly monitoring statistics, revenue from traditional stores fell 2.4% for the full month of December, according to online checkout data. This is really little different from the 2.7% decline reported between December 1-25. Adding to the increase in prices and the estimated turnover of web stores to this current price data, in-store purchases may have decreased by about 1.5% in volume (volume) in December.
