Japan increases whale meat sales
The Japanese fisheries agency extends and enhances its whale meat sales to finance the much-criticized whaling program, that is producing more and more losses every year.
According to the Mainicsi Simbun Japanese newspaper, the office makes whale meat available for private consumers and restaurants, and even wants to increase sales in the school canteens, as well.
Until now only a limited number of whalemen could hunt for whales, however, the level of sales could not cover the high annual costs (about five billion yen) of the hunting program. (MTI)
