In January, retail sales in Romania increased by 6.6 percent
Based on raw data, retail sales in Romania increased by 6.6 percent year-on-year in January, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Wednesday.
The calendar-adjusted data show a 5.1 percent increase compared to January 2023. The sales revenue from the distribution of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 2.7 percent on an annual basis, in the case of non-food products, the increase was 12.2 percent, and in the field of fuels, the increase was 1.6 percent.
According to calendar-adjusted data, the retail turnover of food, beverages and tobacco in January was 2.4 percent higher than a year earlier. Sales revenue from non-food products increased by 9.2 percent, and fuel revenue by 1.1 percent.
