In January, the number of employed people was 4 million 684 thousand, the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent
In January 2025, the average number of employed people aged 15–74 increased by 32 thousand compared to the same period of the previous year, to 4 million 684 thousand. In the first month of the year, the number of unemployed people was 214 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
In the three-month period from November 2024 to January 2025, the average number of employed people aged 15–74 was 4 million 697 thousand. In the case of men, the number of employed people was practically the same as the value measured a year earlier, at 2 million 490 thousand, while that of women slightly exceeded it, increasing to 2 million 207 thousand.
The number of people employed in the domestic primary labor market was 4 million 525 thousand, the number of public employees was 66 thousand, and the number of people working abroad was 106 thousand. In the case of all three indicators, the number did not change significantly compared to the same period of the previous year.
The employment rate among people aged 15–64 was 75.1 percent. While the employment rate for men remained essentially unchanged, at 78.7 percent, that for women increased by 0.6 percentage points, to 71.4 percent.
In the period from November 2024 to January 2025, the number of unemployed people aged 15–74 decreased by 11 thousand to 213 thousand, while the rate remained essentially unchanged, at 4.3 percent.
The number of unemployed men was 115,000 and women 98,000, with the unemployment rate being 4.4 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively.
According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the average duration of job search was 12.1 months. 43.7 percent of all unemployed people had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while those who had been looking for a job for at least a year accounted for 36.1 percent of the unemployed.
