FAO Food Index on lowest level since January
The wide crop of grains decreased the index, but dairy products and sugar is more expensive as before.
An
FAO index of 55 basic foods averaged about 212 points in the first
seven months of 2008, up 36% from the 2007 average and 68% above the
2006 average. However, in the past four months this index has held a
fairly tight range of 212 points to 218 points.
