Israel has agreed on an emergency wheat supply with Romania
In order to strengthen Israel’s food security, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Avi Dichter concluded an emergency wheat supply agreement in Bucharest with his Romanian counterpart, Florin Barbu, the Agerpres news agency reported on Monday, citing the Israeli TPS news service, which quoted the visiting minister.
In exchange for the wheat, Israel provides agricultural technology and expertise to Romania. “At a time of current global uncertainty and serious geopolitical conflicts in our region, this agreement based on common interests provides Israel with another import channel, especially in emergency situations,” the news agency quoted Avi Dichter as saying. The agreement concluded with Romania followed similar agreements concluded with Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Morocco. On the occasion of his visit to Bucharest, the Israeli Minister of Agriculture also met with Member of Parliament Silviu Vexler, the President of the Association of Jewish Communities in Romania, and the leaders of the Romanian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
