The 38th SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival is here
Once again, the organizer BSI is expecting over 20,000 entries for the country’s largest leisure sports event on October 14-15. In addition to those from Budapest, entries have already come from 815 domestic settlements and 93 countries.
As one of the pioneers of Europe’s big city marathons, the event, which has been taking place since 1984, has always stood out from the domestic sports calendar as one of the biggest celebrations of amateur and hobby runners. This year, the fact that it is the featured sports event of the Budapest 150 holiday program series also adds significance to the running festival.
“I am glad that the celebration of running lovers, the SPAR Budapest Marathon, can take place again. This sports event is one of the great pride of our capital. After all, a person’s physical performance meets the gift of nature and creative talent. The participants of the race complete the distance between the iconic locations of one of the world’s most beautiful cities with a special architectural heritage, which this year is also supplemented by extra tracks related to Budapest’s 150th birthday. I wish all brave runners good racing in our beautiful capital!”
– said Mayor Gergely Karácsony, patron of the event.
