Buyers and law-abiding businesses will be protected by the Consumer Protection Act and changes to the warranty and guarantee rules, the ministry’s secretary of state of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) said at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.

Cseresnyés Péter said that according to the amendment to the Consumer Protection Act published on Tuesday, from 22 August, the consumer protection authority can not only take action against sellers who have a direct contractual relationship with consumers in the event of an infringement. Professionals can control five levels of the supply chain, i.e., in addition to stores, manufacturers, importers, warehouses, and wholesalers. (MTI)
