Italy’s food pantry – Part 1
In April 2018 the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) and Coninvest Kft. organised a culinary trip to Bologna and Modena. The destination, the province of Emilia Romagna is often called Italy’s food pantry, so participating representatives of the Hungarian hospitality sector went to the right place. On the first day there was time for a walk in the centre of Bologna and dinner in a nice restaurant.
The following day started in the Carpigiani factory, where about 10,000 ice cream machines are manufactured every year on 29,000m² – these are used everywhere, from McDonald’s restaurants to small artisan ice cream parlours. The company makes 1,200 different ice cream machines. It is also in the Carpigiani factory where we find the world’s only genuine ice cream museum. Participants had lunch in the factory’s cafeteria, where a large selection of simple, but tasty and healthy dishes are waiting for workers – at the stunning price of about 40 euro cents!
The next destination was the Lamborghini museum, where the company founder’s nephew, Fabio Lamborghini spoke to our group about the most famous models and the history of the car manufacturer in general. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to take some of the models for a few-minute test drive. //
