Lidl continues to support the international sport of handball and has become the official fresh food partner of the 2025 Women’s Handball World Championship, strengthening its commitment to women’s sports and promoting a conscious, healthy lifestyle.

Lidl’s partnership with the International Handball Federation (IHF) began in 2017, and since then handball has been a defining pillar of the company’s sports support strategy. As part of this, it has become the fresh food partner of the 2025 Women’s Handball World Championship.

The company’s main goal is to make healthy food accessible to everyone and thus encourage people to lead a health-conscious lifestyle that provides adequate energy for sports and everyday activity. To this end, it offers a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices in its stores. As a fresh food partner, Lidl is not only providing the right source of energy in the stores, but also in the stadiums: at the Women’s Handball World Championship, it will provide players, officials, referees and volunteers with fresh fruit.

With this partnership, Lidl is confirming its strong commitment to women’s sport and gender equality, as well as its contribution to the wider visibility of the achievements of female athletes.

Tibor Kovács, Marketing and Customer Experience Director of Lidl Hungary, highlighted:

“We are extremely proud that Lidl can once again be a partner of one of the most important international events in women’s handball. We consider it important that the achievements of female athletes receive the attention they deserve and that as many women and girls as possible find inspiration in sport. We believe that healthy nutrition and supporting sport go hand in hand, and we are happy to contribute to making this possible for even more people.

It will be a motivation in everyday life,” he added,

“Of course, we wholeheartedly support the Hungarian team, who will take to the field on November 27, 29 and December 1. And the support will not depend on us; we will also ensure that our luckiest customers are in the stands, for whom we will provide an unforgettable experience of the trip and the match, and we will do everything we can to contribute to the girls’ success.”

The company’s goal is to draw attention to the connections between sport, exercise and conscious nutrition throughout Europe, and to encourage people to lead an active lifestyle and make sustainable food choices. To this end, Lidl Hungary is constantly working to broaden its product range: it regularly expands its range of sustainable and healthy products, including its plant-based range.
