The sunflower harvest begins in Békés county. The maturation acceleration management of crops has been completed in most places, the harvesting of the plant will begin next week – the Secretary of the Békés County Agricultural Association informed MTI.

Barabás Béla told that this year the acreage of sunflower is seventy thousand hectares inm Békés county. The vast majority of the crops is sunflower oil.

According to preliminary assessments yield prospects are good as well as the amount and the quality of the crop. He added that the market price of sunflower per tonne is 10-15 percent lower than the previous year’s price, the farmers are able to sell them for 80-85 thousand HUF per tonne. (MTI)
