Weather, riots and biofuels: further food price increase may come?
In the latter period, the rise in food prices seems to be unstoppable. According to the communication of OTP Fund Management – which was published by the portfolio.hu – this process likely to continue, because of the adverse weather conditions and the events, that have occurred in the Arab world.
The prices of the main agricultural products like wheat, corn, soy, coffee, cotton, sugar and cocoa have undergone a significant price increase in the past, adding inflationary pressures worldwide. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); the index, consists of 55 major agricultural goods in December 2010, has already surpassed the 2008 levels of the food crisis – reports
