On May 13 and 14, 2023, more than 9,000 kilograms of dry dog food and more than a thousand kilograms of dry cat food were collected at the thirty-five locations of the collection, in all INTERSPAR stores in the country, thanks to the generosity and care of the customers. And SPAR contributed HUF 1 million to support the work of the National Animal Protection Foundation.
“Orphaned animals often owe their survival only to civil animal protection organizations, which is why it is important to support them year after year. Our company joined “Mancs a bajban!” for the third time. program, in which we try to involve as many animal protection organizations as possible and to deliver our customers’ donations in a targeted manner where it is most needed”
– said Márk Maczelka, head of communications at SPAR Hungary.
“The fact that SPAR has been providing organizations with the opportunity to collect pet food anywhere in the country for 10 years now is a huge help to civil animal activists. Thank you for supporting our work and helping the voice of Hungarian animal protection to reach more people with your national campaign for three years.”
– said Katalin Schreiter, member of the board of trustees of the National Animal Protection Foundation.
For more than ten years, the domestic chain has been helping animal shelters, zoos and wildlife parks in Hungary with its donations, as it mainly offers them products that have been withdrawn from commercial circulation but can still be used for feeding animals. During the two-day intensive pet food collection, SPAR Hungary and its professional partner, the National Animal Welfare Foundation, were able to draw even more attention not only to responsible animal husbandry, but also to the importance of supporting shelters.
“Paw in trouble!” during the two days of the pet food collection campaign, the employees of the NGOs collected more than 9,000 kilograms of dry food for dogs, 7,000 cans of canned food, while for cats they collected more than 1,000 kilograms of dry food, nearly 7,500 cans of canned food, 6,400 packages of bagged food and 1,355 kilograms of cat litter , and the customers also contributed to the success of the campaign by offering pet equipment and cleaning products.
