This year, 21 dog-friendly beaches and bathing areas await doggos across the country
The number of dog-friendly beaches in Hungary has increased: ten years ago, there were only 8, and this year there are 21 dog-friendly beaches and bathing areas waiting for dog-lovers across the country, which clearly shows the significant increase in demand for dog-friendly places – Kutyabarathelyek.hu told MTI.
They added: According to estimates, there are nearly 3 million dogs in Hungary.
They believed that the demand for dog-friendly places is expected to gain even greater momentum in the near future, in parallel with the increase in the popularity of dog ownership. The establishment of certified dog-friendly places has a traffic-increasing effect and promotes tourism in the given settlement.
Krisztián Máté, co-founder of kutyabarathelyek.hu, explained in the statement: when establishing dog-friendly beaches, a suitable distance must be maintained from beaches that host people, appropriate waste collection must be ensured and, if necessary, a walkway placed in the water. However, most places try to please their owners and their dogs with a number of extra services: they welcome guests with dog toys, shared sports equipment, umbrellas, sunbeds, dog activities and programs, agility courses, and even a dog-friendly buffet.
The list of places is available on the website kutyabarathelyek.hu. They also stated that in those parts of natural waters where there is no designated place for bathing (beach), and no sign prohibiting it, and it is not fenced off as private land, there is no obstacle to bathing dogs. Such is the case in the Danube Bend, at Kisoroszi Szigetscsúcs.
