IVSZ and WiTH are looking for female role models in the digital profession again this year

The IVSZ – Association of Digital Enterprises and the Women in Technology Hungary Association (WiTH) are announcing their fourth competition titled Female Role Models in the Digital Economy. The aim of this is to present and recognize those female professionals working in the digital economy who, with their professional work, directly contribute to the development of technology and IT fields, where the presence of female employees remains low.

The two organizations are announcing the competition in 2026 to draw attention to the fact that the proportion of women working in technology and IT fields in Hungary remains low.

Hungary is in the bottom third of the EU in terms of women’s participation and equal opportunities in the ICT industry, and we also perform moderately in terms of women’s presence in digital professions according to the European Union’s Women in Digital Index based on the latest indicators. The proportion of women working in the digital sector in Hungary is low, especially in positions requiring higher qualifications, and the proportion of female digital professionals newly entering the labour market remains below the EU average – and even among those just starting out, few reach the expert level.

Can a female professional be nominated from any age group?

Compared to previous years’ awards, this year’s award is an important change in that the organisers no longer apply age restrictions; companies can nominate female employees of any age if they work in a technological field.

The organisers are looking for nominations from candidates who are actively involved in the development, operation or strategic professional management of digital solutions, for example in the fields of software development, data economy, cybersecurity, IT operations, engineering, product development or digital transformation.

It increases the chances of winning the award if the candidate has made a lot of contributions to the digitalization, for the professional recognition of the IT, infocommunication, and telecommunications sectors, his/her performance as an outstanding leader or specialist, and his/her innovative, inspiring attitude can serve as a role model for others.

Not only companies and organizations can nominate

A community or organization can submit a nomination for the competition, so among other things, employees of a business association/company, professional organization, government office, civil organization, educational institution can also win the award, and an institution can nominate even several employees in the competition.

The IVSZ and WiTH are waiting for nominations until midnight on April 12, 2026. via the IVSZ website , the received nominations will be evaluated by a five-member jury, whose composition will be based on the principle of diversity. The names of the digital professionals chosen as female role models of the year 2026 will be announced during an awards ceremony in May 2026.
