Global food price inflation may relieve this year, due to the general slowdown in the global economy – told FAO the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization.
José Graziano da Silva, the organization's new Director-General believes that the food market fluctuations are likely to continue, and because of the worldwide economic uncertainties, more people will be exposed to the risk of starvation.
“Prices will not rise as fast as in the last 2-3 years, but will not drastically reduced,” – said the Director-General. The FAO food price index reached its peak in February last year – reports MTI.
