Average earnings could rise by 9 percent this year
As a result of the wage agreement concluded last December, according to which the minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum wage increased by 8 percent from January 1, 2019, the average wages are expected to increase by 9 percent this year – analysts commented the latest statistics of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
At the same time, it is noted that the exact estimate is made difficult by the fact that this year the statistical office is measuring wages with a new methodology.
According to the Central Statistical Office’s Thursday announcement, last December the gross average earnings were 360,000 HUF, 10.2 percent more than a year before. In January-December 2018, gross average earnings were 329,900 HUF, and net average earnings amounted to 219,400 HUF, up by 11.3 percent year-on-year. (MTI)
