IATA: more than 1 billion will fly this year in Europe
We must celebrate aviation, not be ashamed, as more than 1 billion people will fly this year in Europe; many of them have never traveled by plane before, and connections between cities around the world have not been as good as they are now, said Alexandre de Juniac, president and chief executive of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at a Wings of Change conference in Berlin on Tuesday.
At a meeting on the challenges of European air transport, the CEO responded to the “flightshame” movement, which focused on passengers choosing not to fly but travel by railway and to ashame those who fly. According to Alexandre de Juniac, more than 1 billion will be flown this year in Europe, and they are confident they are on the best path to reduce emissions from the industry as they have been dealing with the issue for more than ten years.
