The size of Hungarian hop plantations may increase by twenty hectares
The size of Hungarian hop plantations may increase by another twenty hectares due to the fact that – following the subsidies of previous years – the Ministry of Agriculture will launch another support program this year with a budget of 150 million HUF to support the domestic production of beer.
On Kastélyosdombó, Somogy county, several families started harvesting healthy, high-quality hops on the initiative of local families, the Hungarian Ecumenical Relief Organization and HEINEKEN Hungária. During the program launched to restart hop production in Hungary, hops were planted on one hectare in the autumn of 2018 and this year is the first harvest in the area.
