ZEW’s German Economic Sentiment Index is on a twenty-year high
In September, instead of the expected decline, the economic sentiment index in Germany rose to a twenty-year high in a survey by the ZEW economic research institute in Mannheim. The euro area economic sentiment index reached a 16-year high.
The German business sentiment indicator rose 5.9 points to 77.4 points, the highest since May 2000 in September from 71.5 points in the previous month, down from a decline of 69.8 points expected by analysts. (MTI)
