The outdoor season starts at Easter at the toy market
In families with young children, gift-giving remains a defining part of Easter, according to a recent survey by REGIO JÁTÉK. Children most often receive sweets, toys or books, as a result of which the average spending during the holiday period exceeds 10 thousand forints at toy retailers, both online and in-store. The turnover is spectacularly driven by the early-season interest in outdoor toys.
For families with young children, gift-giving is a defining part of Easter, with children most often receiving sweets (81%), toys (69%) and books (42%) – according to a recent survey by REGIO JÁTÉK. Based on the responses of the 3,100 parents who participated in the survey, the most popular toys are creative and LEGO sets (40-40%), but they are closely followed by outdoor toys (20%) and sports equipment (12%).
“Easter is a turning point in the seasonal toy offering every year, when the demand for outdoor toys really starts. With the arrival of spring, families typically look for products that encourage movement, such as a motorbike, scooter, ball or garden toy. The increase in sales is most noticeable in the 3-4 weeks before the holiday, during which time our online basket value is around 10,500 forints, and that of in-store purchases is around 10,400 forints,”
said Dávid Gyaraki, deputy managing director of REGIO JÁTÉK.
The results of the survey are in line with what has been said, as in the case of Easter surprises, half of the parents surveyed choose toys in the price range of 5-10 thousand forints, a quarter of them are also happy to buy gifts under 5 thousand forints, while a similar proportion are happy to buy gifts over 10 thousand forints. Moreover, most children receive more than one surprise: 36 percent receive two and 31 percent receive three different gifts at Easter.
