SPAR is preparing for an Easter rush: it is filling its stores with 570 tons of smoked meat products
SPAR Hungary is preparing for strong traffic during the Easter period: its own Regnum meat plants will supply the stores with a total of more than 570 tons of smoked products. The hit of the season remains the smoked, cooked, tied shoulder, of which the company is producing 250 tons this year. The peak of Easter shopping in 2026 may also be the Thursday before Good Friday.

“Easter in 2026 falls at the beginning of April, preparations have already started weeks earlier this year, and the highest traffic is expected to be experienced on the Thursday before Good Friday. SPAR has filled the stores’ offer with classic holiday ingredients and popular ready-made products early, and in order to provide smooth service, we are adjusting our workforce planning to the traffic, including additional hours if necessary. Adapting to customer needs, some of our stores will operate with extended opening hours in the days before the holidays”

Regnum meat plants are at their peak
SPAR is expanding its offering with 18 products during the Easter period, so customers can choose from a total of more than 30 types of smoked meat products. The most popular product is still SPAR Hazai.Szeretem smoked, cooked, tied shoulder. Regnum meat plants are preparing for the 2026 Easter period with the following production quantities:
- tied ham: 260 tons
- cut shoulder: 28 tons
- Regnum ribs: 32 tons
- S-BUDGET ribs: 65 tons
- smoked knuckle: 150 tons
- other smoked (ribs, loins, frikando): 25 tons
- other ham (Dolce Vita): 12 tons
During the holiday period, the demand for horseradish, mustard and mayonnaise also increases significantly. Horseradish is consumed by up to 70% more than usual. In the weeks leading up to Easter, various types of horseradish will be featured in the flyer presenting special offers, so that customers can get the indispensable addition to Easter ham at the best possible price.
Renewable convenience products from the SPAR enjoy. plant
The SPAR enjoy. convenience plant already produces and supplies 80 types of products to the network, including several pre-packaged mayonnaise salads. During the Easter period, demand for these increases significantly, and an increase of up to 40-50% is expected in this segment before the holidays.
The following quantities of the most popular products are being prepared for the Easter period:
- French salad: 12,000 kg
- Apple and cheese corn salad: 5,000 kg
- Egg salad: 2,500 kg
- Potato salad: 3,500 kg
- Horseradish ham salad: 2,500 kg
This year, at Easter, a new seasonal, spring-inspired product will appear in the sandwich range: the Spring Horseradish Baguette, which provides a different experience with its special taste. In addition, the innovation of the previous year, the horseradish ham salad, returns in 500-gram packaging, with a decorative label, in line with seasonal customer needs. This product will be available at an even more favorable price as part of a flyer campaign from March 25 to April 8, 2026. The holiday offer will also include a lactose-free convenience product that is popular among those following a special diet: chicken breast stuffed with cheese and ham with vegan coleslaw, which offers a complete main meal for those with food sensitivities.
Seasonal baked goods, cakes and gluten-free novelties
During the Easter period, the demand for baking ingredients, cakes and cakes increases seasonally, and as the four-day weekend approaches, the turnover of bread products also increases significantly. In addition to locally baked bagels (walnut, poppy seed, chestnut), the offer is also enriched by packaged novelties: figured cakes, filled cake braids and poppy seed cake.
For those looking for gluten-free products, in addition to the gluten-free breads, cakes and coconut cubes of the regular range, gluten-free marble cake will also be available seasonally, and No-No cinnamon biscuits, which are free of all allergens, will be available at a discounted price in INTERSPAR stores.
Focus on seasonal vegetables and domestic sources
The turnover of fresh vegetables and fruits increases significantly before Easter, especially for spring vegetables: red radishes, butter radishes, spring onions, as well as peppers and tomatoes.
Sweets: expanding range, focus on quality and gluten-free alternatives
The turnover of the sweets category is outstanding at Easter: this is the second most important season after Christmas. SPAR is preparing an even wider range this year, and the number of product elements in the seasonal range will increase by 5% compared to the previous year. The popular products continue to be Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs, and products with cartoon characters popular with children will also be introduced. The range also includes options for customers looking for added sugar and lactose-free options.
