Households with the lowest incomes also purchase Easter sweets
According to GfK’s Household Panel survey, during the Easter period, even the lowest-income households are purchasing Eater sweets – mainly in hypermarkets. Two-thirds of households are buying ham. Last year about the same amount of ham was purchased as in 2011.
Eggs and the bunnies are tightly connected to the Easter celebrations as the symbols of fertility. Most of the Hungarian households – about one-third of households – will continue to buy traditional chocolate figures. Slightly smaller proportion of them – less than one in five households – are purchasing Easter gift packages and eggs, containing surprises.
