Hússzövetség: it is always worth choosing Hungarian meat in the shops, including pork
In any case, it is worth choosing Hungarian meat in the shops, because unlike imported meat, Hungarian pork is impeccable in terms of quality, food safety and traceability – the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK) and the Hungarian Butchers Association told MTI on Thursday.
In the joint statement of the chamber and the meat association, it was highlighted that by choosing a domestic product, customers not only get quality goods for their money, but also contribute to the survival and development of the Hungarian pork sector and meat industry, thereby also ensuring the future food supply.
During the year-end holidays, domestic meat consumption, including pork, traditionally increases, they wrote, noting that the past period has not been favorable for the players in the Hungarian meat industry. Last year, low live pig prices and expensive feed put pig farmers in an extremely difficult situation, which led to a decrease in the number of pigs throughout Europe. The lack of raw materials has had its effect on meat prices already this year, which means difficulties for processors. In addition to raw materials, energy prices, the price of packaging materials, and wages also rose significantly. The increase in costs is putting the players in the meat industry under strong pressure.
