Meat-free balls for meat lovers – IKEA presents a more sustainable alternative to iconic meatballs
In line with IKEA’s intentionto make the food industry even more sustainable, this time the alternative of meatball, an iconic product of the IKEA brand, was presented in a more sustainable way. The new meatless balls are made from vegetable-derived meat substitutes – pea protein, oats, potatoes, onions and apples – but they taste and texture just like meat. The climate footprint of the meat-free ball is only 4 percent of that of the classic IKEA meat ball, making a significant contribution to IKEA’s goal of making the company climate-positive by 2030.
