Hungaricool: With product innovation for the development of the food industry
There was extraordinarily great interest in SPAR’s product innovation competition Hungaricool, which was implemented with support from the Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC).
From the 269 entries the 10 winner products will be present on the shelves of INTERSPAR stores for a year. From AMC deputy managing director Gergely Giczi and head of event and exhibition Réka Szakter did the jurying, while SPAR sent managing director Gabriella Heiszler, purchasing manager Krisztina Várkonyi and marketing manager Nikoletta Bene to the jury.
The competition’s final took place at the National Agriculture and Food Exhibition (OMÉK), where finalists gave presentations and showcased their products. SPAR and AMC were satisfied with the quality level of the competition and they would like to continue organising it. Gabriella Heiszler told after the final that with Hungaricool by SPAR they wanted to contribute to the development of Hungary’s agri-food sector. Gergely Giczi talked about motivating agri-food SMEs for doing innovation work with the competition, so that hopefully more Hungarian groceries will be able to enter foreign markets. SPAR has always been keen on assisting Hungarian products in conquering export markets. No less than 95 percent of SPAR’s suppliers are Hungarian and in certain product categories the retailer only sells Hungarian-made products. //
