Hungarian Food Business Programme 2024
An ever-growing digital product portfolio of more than 2,000 products, hundreds of international purchaser contacts, and nearly 20 additional export development B2B locations in 2024 – this is the Hungarian Food Business Programme concept. Our magazine interviewed Gergely Giczi, deputy CEO of the Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC) and head of the Hungarian Food Business Programme (HFBP).
– The HFBP concept is three years old this year. Are the initial goals slowly becoming reality?

– Our objective was to create an export development concept specifically tailored to the food industry, operating with a number of tools adapted to today’s realities to support the export activities of Hungarian food businesses. The innovation in the concept is the real-time digital catalogue and online platform, which provides a forum for domestic manufacturers and their products to meet with foreign buyers.
– Which markets does HFBP focus on?
– HFBP’s mission is to open a window to the world. For us it is key to identify, understand and channel current trends to Hungarian businesses. The domestic food industry is ahead of major development in the next few years, and the result will be better and more food products, which we can successfully export to countries around the world.
– What have you achieved in international markets so far?
– Our B2B delegation programme was launched in autumn 2022 and since then we have organised 11 business trips, involving more than 100 Hungarian companies and around 400 foreign buyers. The online platform already features around 2,000 products from 250 Hungarian manufacturers, and we have more than 400 registered buyers.
– What are your plans for 2024?
– We continue the work we have started. In the online catalogue, we are now concentrating on increasing the number of foreign buyers, as the vast majority of domestic manufacturers are already registered users. In the first half of 2024 we have 7 trade fairs and 4 additional B2Bs in European and Asian markets. More info: www.hungarianfoodexport.com. (x)
