The shelf life of plant protection products can be extended
In addition to effective plant protection, Nébih also aims to minimize the amount of waste. In order to do this – to support farmers and plant protection product dealers – the test required to extend the shelf life can also be requested from the Nébih laboratory.

In accordance with the relevant regulation, it is forbidden to market plant protection products with an expired shelf life. At the same time, it is possible to extend the period of use. This can be requested by the owner of the license (licensee). For the extension, it is necessary to take a sample representative of the batch according to the MSZ 16967-79 standard, as well as an examination by an independent, accredited laboratory, which proves that the quality of the product is still adequate. The licensee is obliged to keep the inspection certificate for 5 years and to send a copy of it to Nébih as the licensing authority immediately after receiving it. The new use-by date must be clearly marked on the packaging by means of relabelling or an additional label.
It is also possible to request a laboratory test to confirm the quality from Nébih
However, it is important to take into account that a longer turnaround time can be expected in the more crowded spring season. In order to ensure that the new label and the official notification are already available during the period of use of plant protection products that may have already expired but are still of adequate quality, license holders are recommended to start the extension process in time.
