Oops, some food suddenly became cheaper!
According to Napi.hu, the annual inflation rate for food was not higher in December than in November, the increase in price compared to the same period of the previous year was 49 percent in both months. Stagnation was characteristic of only a few products, however, the price of oranges fell by 27 percent in a single month, that of turnips by 23 percent, and peppers and carrots became cheaper by 7-8 percent.
The average price increase is led by Trappist cheese, whose price went up by 18.7 percent in a single month. However, it became noticeable that December brought strong inflation for dairy products. The price cap 2.8 UHT milk is not worth getting serious about just because you can hardly find it in stores. By decree, the government promises to change this by obliging traders to keep twice as much of the products under the price cap.
At the end of December, 1.5 UHT milk cost HUF 380 on average, 2.8 ESL milk cost HUF 433, and 1.5 ESL milk cost HUF 395. In addition, sour cream with a fat content of 20 percent went up by 12 percent, but the price of yogurt, cottage cheese and 1.5 percent milk also increased by 10 percent.
Meanwhile, some price-stop products are becoming increasingly difficult to find in stores, and recently an interactive map has been created to hunt them down.
