How mineral water companies can go green
One of the most important players in the Hungarian mineral water industry, Magyarvíz Kft., based in Lajosmizse is following the environmental model of the Italian parent company San Benedetto that has already taken many steps to protect our environment.
The weight of PET bottles has been reduced, so 10 to 12 percent less plastic is used this year than in 2017, and 10 percent of the bottles are made from recycled materials. This ratio could doubled in the next 5 years, in line with industry commitments.
The energy required to produce mineral water is partly provided by solar panels, and computer-controlled automatic bottling has almost no water loss from the charge.
