How will Europeans shop this holiday season?
In November 2023, Offerista Group and ShopFully conducted research in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Spain. The purpose of the survey was to find out what worries consumers and whether inflation, rising fuel prices, military conflicts or other factors are influencing their purchases for the upcoming holiday season.
The “Is there a question that is currently troubling you?” consumers answered this question unanimously in all markets. Inflation is the main reason they worry (Bulgaria: 77.36%; Hungary: 67.91%; Romania: 80.19%; Germany: 60.74%; Austria: 56.65%; Italy: 72.33 %; France: 86.32%; Spain: 79.13%).
However, despite inflation, consumers are not giving up on holiday shopping – nearly 70% of respondents said they will continue shopping this year.
