German Aldi and Lidl face decrease of consumers. According to the survey of GfK market research institute; in the first ten months of the year, the turnover of Aldi and Lidl decreased by 1 percent, compared to a year earlier. In particular, the non-food items observed for less interest by the researchers – reports Világgazdaság Online.
According to Guardian; Tesco’s Club Card campaign succeded, therefore the discount chain is able to seduce the costumers of Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsbury. Independent analysts’ reports show that Tesco increased its market share again after two years – reports Világgazdaság Online.
Procter & Gamble has signed a contract, with the Sara Lee company, which bought Ambi Pur, for 470 million USD. According to the communication of Procter & Gamble, the transaction will be completed in the current financial quarter, so the company’s 2010 results are not expected to be affected – reports MarketWatch.
The German Rewe’s Penny Market expands. The network reached 100 stores in Romania after the opening of 28 stores this year. Penny Market plans to open further 25 units next year. The opening of the 25 shops means a 32 million euros investment, 1.3 million per units.
The largest Slovenian trade network, the Mercator buys its Croatian competitor, the Getro supermarket chain. Under the agreement, 16 Getro businesses will be purchased with the company name and the workers together.
Carlsberg significantly revised upwards its forecasts for this year. The world’s fourth largest brewery expects 9.3 billion crowns sale counts, compared to the previously expected 9 billion. The temporary improvement can be thanked to the Russian market, where tax increases will be introduced next year, so the dealers have replenished their stocks this year.
